Martin Nöbauer

Modern and Period Piano

Nöbauer does not play as young musicians often do – with aggressiveness, with the urge to assert themselves, convinced that strength lies in visibility. He plays – and this is his greatest gift – as if he already knew he had nothing to prove. Beethoven’s Sonatas – the “Moonlight” and the “Hammerklavier” – did not appear as opposites, but as two stages of the same process: the discovery of the instrument and of oneself.
