Biography
Piergiorgio Rosso, Francesca Gosio, and Antonio Valentino, all from Turin, studied at the Conservatory and then trained in 1989 at the Trio di Trieste and Altenberg Trio Wien schools.
They have given hundreds of concerts since their foundation, making their debut in 1993 at the Grosser Saal of the Musikverein in Vienna. In 1995, they won second prize at the “Gui” International Competition in Florence, followed by first prize at the “Trio di Trieste” International Competition in 1997. In 1999, they gave a series of concerts at the Teatro Coliseum in Buenos Aires, in 2002, they were featured at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Ghedini's Concerto Albatro, conducted by Jeffrey Tate. To date, it is the longest-running Italian trio and one of the few full-time trios on the international scene. Their vast repertoire consists of about 170 works and 50 world premieres.
Formed in 1989 at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Turin, it is currently the longest-running Italian trio and one of the few full-time trios on the international chamber music scene.
Its repertoire includes more than 170 works from Mozart to the present day, 30 of which were written specifically for the trio and performed in world premieres.
Winner of the “Premio Trio di Trieste” International Chamber Music Competition (1997) and group in residence at the Unione Musicale in Turin.
They have performed in hundreds of concerts with the most important Italian and foreign concert societies: Amici della Musica in Florence, Unione Musicale in Turin, Società del Quartetto in Milan, Mito-Settembre Musica, Amici della Musica in Palermo, the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna (in Beethoven's Triple Concerto), the Sala S.Cecilia of the new Auditorium in Rome (accompanied by the Orchestra di S.Cecilia conducted by J.Tate in G.F.Ghedini's Triple Concerto for trio and orchestra), Coliseum in Buenos Aires, Associazione Scarlatti in Naples, Chigiana in Siena, Societad Filarmonica in Valencia, Quirinale in Rome (live on radio), and many others.
They have collaborated with numerous musical ensembles of different backgrounds, including bandoneonist Massimo Pitzianti, the group Manomanouche (with the release of a CD in 2009), and recently with the well-known singer Paolo Conte, who wrote several works for the Trio Debussy on the occasion of the trio's 20th anniversary, celebrated with a series of five concerts at the Unione Musicale in Turin.
